International Travel on a Bridging Visa – Hidden Dangers

Do you know someone waiting for a visa grant? Are they intending to travel internationally?  If your visa-staff, or someone you know, has international travel plans remind them to make sure they have return travel rights before they go! Many visas come with return travel rights, but most bridging visas do not. A person who has applied for a visa, but is still waiting for it will often be on a bridging visa. These do not usually come with return travel rights, you must apply for that separately. If you leave Australia without doing so, you may not be able to get back in!

At busy times, like coming up to Christmas & Easter, it can sometimes take up to 4-6 weeks to get return travel rights on a bridging visa. If you or someone you know will need return travel rights, don’t leave it until the last minute!
