New Permanent Residence option for Pacific Islanders

This year the Australian Government is commencing a new permanent residence option for some pacific island countries. It’s a new concept, requiring interested persons to pay a fee (which will be less than AUD100.00) to enter a pool of people from whom a random group will be permitted to apply for the visa.

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade,

“Priority is being given to countries with limited permanent migration opportunities to Australia, and countries without citizenship rights with New Zealand, France and the United States.”

“Eligible countries could include Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.”
