482 Visas – New policy on Genuine Temporary Entrant
Immigration have changed their policy for 482 visas.
Immigration will now consider the Genuine Temporary Entrant rule met, unless there is evidence to suggest it is not.
Red Flags
If a person applying for a 482 visa,
- failed to comply with visa conditions previously
- had a visa cancelled previously
- has provided information which conflicts with something the department has on file (data on previous application forms, passenger cards, etc)
- has made 2 or more unsuccessful applications for a 482 visa (in particular when the person has attempted the change occupations)
- shares attributes with a group under scrutiny (Immigration conducts risk profiling)
- has a history of visa refusal or non-compliance with visas in Australia or overseas
Their case will be more closely scrutinized.
